1. Your opponent is in your guard and has made the mistake of leaving one arm between your legs, and one arm out.

2. Secure the arm he has left behind, and extend your hips upward to get your (in this case) right knee above his neck. Keep your opponent very close to you and pull his arm in tightly.

Lifting your hips here gives you the clearance to lock the leg completely around your opponent's neck - when training with a small opponent you will not need to do this, but it is my recommendation that you do anyway for practice - since it will be essential against a larger opponent. Don't train bad habits.

3. Keep your opponent's arm across your belt line as shown, and bend your leg over the back of his neck, pulling down on your ankle. As you do this, shift your body to your right side - your head should not be in line with his.
Be careful on larger opponents not to use your foot to pull down on - this puts stress on the ankle!
Your opponent's arm MUST stay across his neck to complete this choke!

4. Lock your left leg over your right ankle behind the knee joint (above your calf) completing the triangle with your legs. At this point your right elbow can be used to keep your opponent's right arm in place, so you can put both hands on the top of his head.

5. To complete the choke, do three things:

Lift your hips.
Pull down on his head.
Squeeze with your legs, keeping your self to the side.
As long as your opponent is not passing your guard, persist with this choke, some people do a good job of playing 'possum' on this one.
