هذا الكلام غير صحيح. هناك العديد من الدراسات الوبائية و التي تبحث في مسببات سرطان الصدر و المنشورة في عدد من النشرات الطبية و على حد علمنا لا توجد دراسة تثبت او حتى تقترح ان مانعات العرق تسبب السرطان.

الحقيقة: تقوم العقد اللمفاوية بالتخلص من بعض السموم في الجسم لكن لا يتم التخلص من السموم عن طريق العرق. جمعية السرطان الامريكية لا تعلم عن اي دليل يثبت ان بعض المواد الموجودة في مانعات العرق او مزيلات الرائحة هي مواد سمية او تسبب ضرر للـDNA و الذي يؤدي الى السرطان. هذه المنتجات تخضع للعديد من الاختبارات قبل ان تسوق.

الحقيقة: نصف الاصابات تقريبا تحدث في ربع الدائرة العلوي الخارجي. السبب لا علاقة له اطلاقا بالعقد اللمفاوية بل لان معظم انسجة الصدر تقع في تلك المنطقة. ارباع الدوائر في الصدر ليست بنفس الحجم، الحلمة ليست مركز الصدر الحقيقي و كمية كبيرة من انسجة الصدر تسمى بالـaxillary tail تمتد الى الابط

الحقيقة: الرجال اقل عرضة لسرطان الصدر ب100 مرة تقريبا و السبب لان النسيج الصدري لديهم اقل ب100 مرة من النساء. الهرمونات ايضا تلعب دور. مزيلات الرائحة و مانعات العرق لا يسببون السرطان للرجال او النساء.
و تذكر البروفسورة ديبي ساسلو Debbie Saslow, PhD مديرة سرطان الصدر و العنق في الجمعية الامريكية للسرطان: " انه لا يوجد اي دليل علمي يثبت ان مانعات العرق تسبب او تزيد من احتمال الاصابة بسرطان الصدر للنساء" و تكمل: " من المؤسف ان مسببات سرطان الصدر الرئيسية هي اشياء لا يمكن للمراة عمل اية شئ لها و هي: كونها امراة، التقدم في العمر و وجود تاريخ اصابة بالسرطان شخصيا او في العائلة".
" افضل ما يمكن ان تفعله المراة لتحمي نفسها هو القيام بالفحوصات اللازمة بشكل سنوي بداية من سن ال40. مع ان هذا لن يمنع الاصابة و لكنه سيوفر فرصة الكشف المبكر عن المرض".
